Description
ARTIST STATEMENT:
My birth name is Kheuthmy Khambay, which means “Grow Rich Gold Leaf”. My nickname Loy, (what close family and friends call me) can mean either “slip away” or “swim”. I was born in a small village in Savannakhet, Laos and grew up in Saint Louis, MO and Saint Petersburg, FL. My love of art started as a little girl. I was inspired and mesmerized by my uncle, Thai Khamby’s drawings, and by the age of 8, I began to draw with him.
I received my degree in Commercial Arts along with a degree in Film & Video Production from Full Sail University. After graduation, I headed out to Los Angeles, CA, where I had an internship with Women In Film and worked on various projects.
Today, I only work on projects that I feel are worthy to me. I love working with oil, as it’s a very flexible medium. It’s slow drying process gives me plenty of time to communicate, to think and feel with my canvas. My art is Feng Shui inspired, and each of my pieces are created to demonstrate how a piece of art can change the feel and energy of the room. Art reflects the mood, tastes and attitudes of different people.
In 2007, I held my first and solo art show called the Ah-Loy Show. I plan on having a show every year, with a new theme, to showcase my vision. I look to encourage and inspire the whole word with my Feng Shui inspired artwork. I appreciate everything I have been gifted with in this life.
“Whether it is love, success, or wealth that they want in their life. Art has no judgment.”
