Description
ARTIST STATEMENT:
I have lived in Florida for 43 years, and am dismayed by the loss of wild Florida to development during this time. From my first year I have loved kayaking and walking in the swamps and wild places in Florida, and am now painting in Florida state parks and gardens, in hope that people will recognize, treasure and defend our precious natural places.”
Sal Sidner is an eco feminist artist whose work has been exhibited in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Her murals in Miami celebrate the life of the Everglades and are used as a teaching tool. In 2019 she had a solo exhibition in Venice Italy on the theme of migration, an artist residency in Italy researching interconnection between species, and group exhibitions in New York, Italy and Miami. Her themes have shifted from human culture to eco centered work. The series Florida Wild are plein air watercolors painted immersed in natural beauty.
