NFC Technology Meets Art

GALLERYTALK LAUNCHES IN THIRD QUARTER 2020

(St. Petersburg) ‐ GalleryTalk, the new virtual product from Galleries on The Go, launched in the 3rd quarter of 2020. The new technology, licensed by PixelStix the creators of St. Pete’s incredible Shine Virtual Gallery in collaboration with PixelStix CEO and  Virtual developer Matthew Walker, allows artists to share a personal message about the inspiration and story behind their work via video with viewers through just a tap of their smartphone.

Using the technology, products with a GalleryTalk sticker can provide exclusive content to viewers using NFC code, transforming physical items into a virtual experience and offering exciting possibilities for brands and customers alike. Tags are reusable and reassignable.

Galleries on The Go began collaborating with PixelStix in 2019 to bring curated artist stories to their galleries through the smart device app. The Tampa Bay onsite/popup gallery manager currently operates galleries in 10 commercial spaces throughout Tampa Bay. The new technology augments their current gallery services with exciting new virtual capabilities.

GalleryTalk now makes it possible for artists to share their story with viewers personally though video at any physical location throught the world. It also allows visitors to map other GalleryTalk items in their current venue and throughout the local area. Viewers simply tap, wave or pass their smart phone over the GalleryTalk tag to access embedded video artist statements, branding, contact information and more.

“We experienced PixelStix in street art and realized that it could offer our artists an even deeper level of participation for their viewers,” Galleries on the Go CEO Sara Mullins said.

PixelStix, creators of the online app guide to St. Pete’s 2019 Shine Mural Festival, transformed street art into a museum quality experience for mural visitors, turning its works into an interactive gallery without walls and accessible to all.

Together, both companies enable owners of any size space to take an empty wall, room or lobby and bring it to life with interactive art, expanding their venue’s experience for their patrons enjoyment, while also providing popup galleries for artists to exhibit within.

Why Is Art Important? 5 Reasons Why Art Is Good For Business

Importance of Galleries

It’s good for your business, it IS good business.

Vital to our life experience is the transcendent art experience… artist communicating with the audience. Energy reaches out from the mind of one human being to another through the creation of an emotional and aesthetic work of art. By looking at art, a person can have a strong emotional response whether happy or melancholic, serene or energizing. Our human spirit longs for a connection with the unseen and the spiritual. It is uplifting to be a part of something outside ourselves. Art can be the vessel for transporting the mind and the imagination to places beyond our daily scope.

According to a report by Americans for the Arts, art education strengthens problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. The experience of making decisions and choices in the course of creating art carries over into other parts of life.  “The kind of people society needs to make it move forward are thinking, inventive people who seek new ways and improvements, not people who can only follow directions,” says Mary Ann Kohl, arts educator and author.
