Description
ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am an engineer and BIM/VDC Manager for a construction company in Tampa, Florida. My work involves coordinating 3D computer models of mechanical systems within the building models.
I am also a professional photographer specializing in sports, landscape, travel, wildlife and architectural photography. My brother-in-law is a mineral dealer and I helped him guide tour groups on excursions collecting minerals throughout South Africa, Madagascar and Namibia. This gave me the opportunity to discover the many beautiful vistas in these countries, especially Namibia.
I used my experiences and friendships there to begin offering photo safaris throughout Namibia.
This image is from the Architect’s home in the abandoned diamond mining town of Kolmanskop, Namibia. There are so many visual features to enjoy in this scene. The many doorways with the sand pouring through and the antique sink in the corner are intriguing. the vivid colors of the walls along with the intricate floral trim above the doors reveal an electric culture in this foreboding desert region.
