ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am formerly of New York City, and then transplanted to Houston, Texas more than 30 years ago. I’ve been a proud Houston resident ever since. A Mecca for artistry and fine art Texas was the ideal place to cultivate my love for art.
My career began as a small child. The first masterpiece was with crayon on brown bag…on my mother’s walls. My natural artistic talents were nurtured at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and Cooper Union School of Art. Through my trademark use of courageous, contrasting colors my artistry is described as “fearless” and “bold”. When combined with passionate brush strokes, the abstract artistry gives the viewer a sense of strength and empowerment.
My technique ranges from realism to sculpture to the abstract. Early on, I chose to pour my professional focus into abstract art. I soon realized I could express feelings and ideas more passionately than through realism. Most of my work is acrylic on paper and acrylic on Masonite wood.
In the studio using cool tunes of jazz legends sets the mood. My innermost thoughts and ideas come to life on canvas. I even daydream in Technicolor!
Throughout an engaging career, my works have decorated the private collection walls of such Houston landmarks as Marathon Oil Company and Cantoni Furniture. Many individuals and art galleries throughout the greater Houston area host my work. Having relocated to Sarasota, Florida, I continue creating and exhibiting my work.
