Description
Betsy Ore Glass is a coastal artist, writer, and photographer whose work is rooted in a deep love for the sea and its ever-changing beauty. A former broadcasting and advertising professional, Betsy discovered her passion for photography in 2000. What began as a hobby quickly grew into a calling, leading to contributions in North Carolina newspapers and recognition from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the North Carolina Sea Grant Association documenting hurricane effects.
Her favorite subjects remain the timeless ones—waves, old beach cottages, and sand fences—images that capture the soul of the shore. Betsy’s creative journey expanded into writing Reflections by the Sea, a collection of inspirational thoughts and coastal memories that began as a personal gift to her children. Accompanied by her photography, the column became a weekly feature in newspapers and online, now running for over 25 years.
In recent years, Betsy has turned many of her photographs into reference material for painting, transitioning into pastels, oils and acrylic Living in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, she continues to find inspiration in boats, waves, and local coastal scenes.
Betsy believes her gifts—writing, photography, and painting—are God-given, and she is passionate about using them to share her faith and life experiences with others.
Originally from Virginia Beach, VA, Betsy and her husband raised their two children with a shared love for the coast, making lasting memories on family trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Her first devotional book, “Reflections by the Sea” featuring her writing, art and photography was published in April 2022 and her second book, “Christmas Traditions” was published in 2022. Learn more about her books here: BETSY ORE GLASS BOOKS.
