ARTIST STATEMENT:
“My art is all about having fun, and the joy of creating. Drawing and sketching are the backbone of my artistic process. I keep a sketchbook handy at all times and try to draw each and every day. I draw from reality and from imagination.
Whether painting a floral, a cityscape, or the figure, my process is a combination of employing design principles with experimentation. I focus on the structure and composition of the piece, building surface and texture, adding text or pattern while letting the painting unfold. I invite the unexpected to happen and learn so much in the process of creating each composition. I am always challenged to find new ways of achieving depth and richness. The painting develops as colors are layered, one on top of the other, and each painting reveals new color combinations.
My goal is to continue to evolve artistically through practice and experiementation.”
